Articul FAI Platform

AS9102 Rev C Forms 1, 2, and 3

AS9102 forms, pre-filled from the drawing. Every value traced back to the print.

Upload the drawing. Articul pre-fills Forms 1-3 from the print and routes anything uncertain to you, including dimensions, notes, and title-block fields — each value with a confidence score and a link to where it came from. Nothing exports until the package passes AS9102 Rev C completeness checks. The free tier runs three drawings a month with no card and no sales call.

Notes and title block extracted too.

  • Drawing characteristics tied to Form 3 rows for review.
  • Review-first workspace for low-confidence dimensions and tolerances.
  • Forms 1-3, nonconformance disposition, signatures, and export history.
  • Hosted SaaS today; self-host/on-prem appliance path for ITAR-sensitive work.

How Articul works

  1. Upload the drawing. Use a PDF, PNG, JPG, or TIFF source drawing. Articul stores the source file durably and links it to the FAIR record.
  2. Review extracted characteristics. The extraction queue flags uncertain dimensions, GD&T, notes, material, processes, and tolerance sources for accountable human inspection.
  3. Approve and export. Verify results, disposition nonconformances, sign quality and engineering approvals, and download the AS9102 package.

FAI workflow features

Drawing-to-form traceability
Characteristics stay tied to drawing regions and Form 3 rows while Forms 1-3 are reviewed.
AS9102 Forms 1-3
Part accountability, material/process accountability, and characteristic results share one tenant-scoped record.
Nonconformance workflow
Out-of-tolerance results create nonconformances and block release until closed.
Audit trail
Approvals, exports, edits, and request context are captured as release evidence.
Team roles and seats
Invite quality teammates and enforce owner, admin, billing, member, and read-only roles.
Hosted and private extraction paths
Hosted extraction is configured explicitly for non-controlled drawings; self-host deployments can point to a local extractor so drawings stay on-prem.

Hosted SaaS or private deployment

Articul is built as a plain React client, Fastify API, Postgres database, durable upload storage, and separate extraction worker. Hosted deployments run on Google Cloud Run with Cloud SQL and Google Cloud Storage. Self-host deployments can run the same app shape on a shop-controlled appliance.

Hosted extraction sends drawings to configured extraction services. Do not upload export-controlled (ITAR/EAR) technical data to hosted; use the self-host path.

A month typically pays for itself inside one FAIR.

Shops commonly bill $175–$1,200 per first article. Starter is $149 a month, and the public SaaS plans include Free, Starter, and Professional tiers with extraction run, seat, active FAIR, storage, and export limits. Enterprise and Self-host Appliance plans are contact-us options for dedicated support, private deployment, and customer-managed infrastructure.

Common questions

What does Articul produce?

A structured AS9102 export package with Form 1, Form 2, Form 3, validation data, audit history, source drawing, balloon overlays, and referenced evidence files.

Does the software replace inspection judgment?

No. The workflow is review-first: Articul pre-fills Forms 1-3 from the print and routes anything uncertain to you before approval and export.

What happens when it misses or misreads something?

It will miss things and misread things — every extraction tool does. The difference is that every value carries a confidence score, low-confidence values are flagged for review first, each value links to the exact region of the print it came from, and nothing exports until the AS9102 completeness checks pass. Checking against a highlighted spot on the drawing is faster than transcribing from scratch.

What does it cost?

Starter is $149 per month, listed publicly on the pricing page — no demo call or quote request. Shops commonly bill $175–$1,200 per first article, so a month typically pays for itself inside one FAIR. Paid plans carry a 14-day trial that can be canceled any time from the pricing page; the free tier requires no card.

Can sensitive drawings stay out of hosted extraction?

Yes. Hosted extraction is disabled unless explicitly configured, and the self-host path supports a local extractor endpoint for private environments.

Can hosted Articul process ITAR or EAR-controlled drawings?

No. Do not upload export-controlled (ITAR/EAR) technical data to hosted; use the self-host path and confirm requirements with your export-control counsel.
